Training to failure is "old school". It started years ago with body builders. Inexperienced athletes make the mistake of thinking that more is better.

Depending on how many years you have been training and what age you are, you should start at a point of development, have goals and a purpose and know where you want to be at the end of the season. You should know what training is planned every day throughout the season.

As a sprinter, start easy so you don't cause injury. Strength and speed will improve each week. Train in percentages of speed, working up to 90-100% before the competition period.

Training to failure will result in issues and problems and you could be out for the season.
