Post subject: Running a Track Meet
PostPosted: Mon Mar 01, 2004 1:37 pm
Does anyone have instruction sheets for each event to be used by volunteers who have no background in track and field? Our teachers must help run the meets as an adjunct duty and most have no clue about the events. Any suggestions to ensure it all runs smoothly will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Carpe Diem,
Laura

Doug Todd, of Mount San Antonio College, Walnut, California, put together an excellent video designed specifically for the high school classroom teacher. Some of the specific rules have changed (time limits for field events and PV standards placement) but it really lays everything out. I don't know if he still has copies or not, but I recommend it highly.
