How Long?

Post by jetlag »

Roughly how long does it take to see the results of late season conditioning workouts in a race? Some of mine seem a bit weak still in their races but we are in conference championships right now. Regionals is next week starting on Wednesday and State the next weekend.

Also, what should the workouts the day before the prelim and day before the final look like for sprinters (100-400)? I have a pretty good idea but what sayest thou? It is always helpful to have someone else to bounce ideas off of.

Also, I will be putting season end weight training in with them. Should this be heavy weight and fewer reps or the opposite?

End of the Season Training

Coach Jackson:

It usually takes two to three weeks to see results. Athletes out of condition will show results sooner. In your case, it will take three weeks.

Give sprinters rest or active rest the day before competition. Active rest is jogging and stretching only. You want fresh legs.

Eliminate weight training before competition for your athletes.
