Cross Country Race Critique Form

Here's some questions that should be considered in talking with your athletes after a race:

Name
Date
Finishing time
Finishing place
Condtion of course
Difficulty of course
How did you feel during warm-up?
Were you sufficiently warmed-up?
What were your thoughts before the race?
How were you positioned in the first 1200 meters?
During the race did you pass more people than passed you?
Did you pass people on the last 1200? 800? 400? 100?
How did you feel physically, mentally and emotionally immediately after the race?
How long did it take you to recover?
What could you have done to improve the race?
What positive things did you do in the race?
What, if any, negative thoughts did you have during this race?
Was there a teammate or competitor that you feel you should have run with, or was there someone you noticed you ran with that you have not run with previously?
What is your overall feeling about the race?
How will this race help you with future races?

On the home page of this web site under Psychology there are two excellent articles on saying the right things to your athletes after a race.
