I'm trying to develop strategies with my 800/1500 meter athletes and they will be running the 3000 meters also.

Please help me with strategies for these races as I will like to start in a few weeks.

Thanks
Coach Ron

Listed below are percentage breakdowns to describe the aerobic and anaerobic demands of each endurance running event in track & field.

Event: 800 meters
Aerobic: 40%
Anaerobic Glycolytic: 55%
Anaerobic Alactic: 5%

Event: 1500-1600 meters
Aerobic: 50%
Anaerobic Glycolytic: 48%
Anaerobic Alactic: 2%

Event: 3000-3200 meters
Aerobic: 70%
Anaerobic Glycolytic: 30%
Anaerobic Alactic: 1%

These are general rules or guidelines. In reality, each individual may differ slightly in their contribution, aerobically and anaerobically, to specific events. But it is safe to say that these are very realistic generalities and are accepted worldwide.
