Have you ever found yourself, as the athlete:

Arguing with your coach about something?
Upset that he didn’t do things most convenient for you?
Accusing him of not caring?
Telling him he made a mistake?
Explaining to him why what you did wasn’t really wrong?

If you have, you’re not alone. But what happens when the athlete transforms into a coach?

Oh, great enlightenment occurs! Their perspective changes! The lights come on with understanding they were not privy to in their youthful and childish self-centeredness! And of course, this understanding was impossible before this transformation to coach.

We however do not have this luxury or transformation with God. We will always just be human, the athlete. We will never understand what it means to be God, the coach. We will never be fully enlightened! We will never have His perspective! We will never be privy to His understanding!

This means (us) having faith in God, the coach will never end for us and we will never fully understand what is going on in the lowest moments of our life. But God does! And our God is the one who:

Laid the earth’s foundations! Shut up the sea behind its doors! Gave orders to the morning and showed the dawn its place! Who walks in the deep and tells darkness and light where to reside. Who sends the lightning bolts on their way and brings forth the constellations in their seasons! (Book of Job)

And what is more this God perfectly loves us! He’s always right and will do what’s best for us despite our complaints and pleas to the contrary. He also will always be there to help us every step of the way. This is amazing love – amazing grace!

Prayer: Thanks, Lord. Please keep my focus on you and not on my circumstances.
