If you have coached for very long you quickly realize great athletes are nice but so much better are athletes with great attitudes! Doesn’t it just wear you out when your athletes (or children) won’t learn, won’t listen and everything is excuses?
The phrase “change of heart” is actually the word repentance! Isn’t it glorious when one of your athletes has "a change of heart"? (Repentance) They show up to practice, listen and actually obey! "Who is this stranger masquerading in that body you ask yourself?"
Actually, when repentance occurs it is a brand new person!
The bible says when Jesus was crucified he had a thief on his right and one on his left and both were initially mocking and belittling Him. But soon one had a “change of heart” (Repentance) and began to stick up for Jesus. He then asked Jesus to remember him when he started His new kingdom. Jesus replied to him, “Today you will be with me in heaven!”
How valuable is a “change of heart?” It will determine not only the quality of life you have on this earth but where you spend eternity!
Yes, some of your athletes may need “a change of heart”. Do you need one also?
