Are there any workouts that can help me get out of the blocks faster? Everytime I start, I always seem to be last one out of the blocks and always have to play catch-up. Is there anything that can help correct this problem? Any workouts?

Thanks.

Posture is one area to work on. The abdominal muscles must be strong enough to hold the posture. This is referred to as core strength. Do sit-ups in many different positions. Greater strength in the core is necessary to transfer forces produced by the arms to legs. Also focus on arms working with opposite legs in harmony.

Weight training has the greatest impact on acceleration. Strength is needed to overcome the body’s inertia in the start. The start is initiated by gluts and hamstrings. Develop strength in these areas.

Some starting and acceleration exercises are:

1.
Rollover Start: Drive from a rolling start

2.
Acceleration Ladder

3.
Harness Start
