new coach with lots of kids & no staff Help

I am a new Jr High boys and girls coach and I have 45 kids out. I only have one assistant and they go with shot and disc to rings that are far away ( plus only 6 kids with them). I feel like all I have time to do is hand out workouts which I have no idea if they are any good either and don't really get any time to help the kids with their field events. Not that I am going to be much help since I was a middle distance runner. I only have 7 practices to our first meet and I just got the job. Please help
